"Representatives of Christianity,
Islam, Buddhism, Judaism, different traditions of
African origin and other manifestations of religious
faith and spirituality in Cuba decided to come
together in 2011 to work for the reunification of
the families of the Cuban anti-terrorists
incarcerated in the United States for more than 14
years, a task which we will continue in 2013," he
added.
Included in the activities of the
group – which also advocates the unity of Cuban
families in general – are the Por la luz y el amor
volverá (For Light and Love will Return) concert
today, February 14, at 4:00pm in Havana’s Anti-Imperialist
Tribunal.
Other acts of solidarity include
seminars, press conferences and cultural events, to
which religious figures from the United States and
other parts of the world have been invited to state
the truth about the case of the Five and demand the
immediate release of Gerardo Hernández, Fernando
González, Antonio Guerrero and Ramón Labańino, and
the return to Cuba of René González, currently
serving three years’ probation.
Visibly moved, Magalys Llort,
Fernando’s mother, expressed thanks in the name of
all the family members of the Five for the support,
love and solidarity given by the Platform. •

Message from the
Cuban Five
To
our dear Cuban people:
The arduous year of 2012 has come to
a conclusion, with its tremendous battles and
important victories, with the difficult experience
caused by Hurricane Sandy, from which we are
recovering, but above all with a tremendous
demonstration of the fact that unity among all
Cubans, and loyalty to our patriotic ideals, will
always allow us to succeed in any effort and
overcome every challenge.
Message from
Alicia Alonso to family members of the Five
"HOW proud the family members must
be of the five heroes, these men who honor us all
with their courage, integrity and human sensibility!
