Honduran President Kidnapped

TEGUCIGALPA, Jun 28 (Prensa Latina) President of Honduras Manuel Zelaya was kidnapped early Sunday by Army forces, Foreign Minister Patricia Rodas denounced in remarks to TELESUR.

We don't know where he has been taken to, his integrity is threatened, the top diplomat stressed.

Our offices and houses have been rounded, but as long as we have the right to talk we will do it to denounce what is being going on to try to prevent this Sunday's popular consultation. It is a crime against our democracy, as we have warned in the last few days, she added.

"We will continue struggling in spite of the consequences, but our people will not yield again to those wanting to shatter the hope we are building," said Rodas.

"The attack is being perpetrated by the same oligarchic groups that submitted Hondurans to hunger and poverty for decades. The people will follow the path of democracy, with us or without us," expressed Rodas, who appreciated the solidarity of all Latin American governments.

"We are not going to go give in a single step, there is no one who can stop an entire people. Today Honduras is the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our Americas (ALBA)," she said.
