FIDEL’S 82ND
BIRTHDAY
•
Dear Fidel, eternal Commander in Chief of ideas,
Once
again, humanity’s purest and most honest join
together to celebrate, in one voice, your birthday,
and rejoice in having you with us; exercising your
legendary determination, your vision of the future,
your adherence to your principles and your faith in
human intelligence in the service of the noblest
ideals of solidarity and justice.
While
we accompany you in the near-miracle of being both a
long-lived and bold revolutionary, we cannot help
but note that you have become the father and
grandfather of generations of combatants; those of
us who are dreaming and building with you the world
whose attainment has inspired the actions of your
fertile life.
From
the dignity of your 82 years, it must be beautiful
to contemplate such a fruitful harvest of souls and
ideas. Honored for having been touched by your life
and your work, and proud to count myself among the
sons that your spirit has sown everywhere, I join
with humanity to wish you a very happy birthday.
The
reiteration of my unconditional loyalty and
commitment to our Revolution will continue to be my
birthday gift to you.
An
affectionate embrace,
René

From
one of the empire’s prisons, with affection and joy,
I say to you: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
July
29, 2008
Dear
Fidel:
I have
just read several of your Reflections, which the
comrades from our Interests Office in Washington
sent to me. From the heart, I would like to say to
you that your words give me light and strengthen me
extraordinarily. I wait for them every week.
I would
venture to affirm that that sentiment is shared by
millions of compatriots and friends of Cuba who read
your lines, charged with intelligence, just ideas
and undeniable truths.
Your
82nd birthday is approaching, and from one of the
empire’s prisons, with affection and joy, I say to
you:
HAPPY
BIRTHDAY!
and I
reaffirm to you that nothing and nobody will ever be
able to break our revolutionary integrity or chip
away at our optimism, and likewise, we will never
let down our heroic people, who under your true,
valiant and eternal guidance have built, against all
odds, an indestructible beacon of justice and
dignity for the peoples of the world.
Receive
a big revolutionary embrace, with the complete
certainty that we will return to our homeland!

We
revolutionaries rejoice on your birthday, hoping you
will celebrate many more
Dear
Fidel:
My
revolutionary embrace and many wishes for a happy
birthday.
As the
Revolution becomes stronger and continues its
victorious march with you as its historic leader and
your guidance clarifying ideas and concepts, every
day that passes is a defeat for those who, blinded
by hatred and with a poor understanding of history,
unsuccessfully try to find, in every detail, the
confirmation of their sick desires.
And so,
as they toss and turn in the hatred that consumes
them, defeated by our people, the Reflections that
you write travel all over the world, commented on by
the media, just like the images of you meeting with
distinguished figures, and we revolutionaries
rejoice on your birthday, hoping that you will
celebrate many more.
Happy birthday,
Comandante!

FIFTY-SIX
members of Canada’s Parliament have just signed a
petition demanding justice for the Cuban Five, the

behind bars," the petition says. |
