Cuban
boxers excel in meet
with Mexico’s best

preparation

CUBA’S Domadores team won seven of
10 bouts with Mexico’s Guerreros, in a preparatory
meet prior to the 4th World Boxing Series, set to
begin in November. The two teams are both placed in
Group B for this competition, along with Poland,
Russia, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, winners of the
last edition.
The Cuban team came away with seven victories thanks
to Yosbany Veitía (49kg), Lázaro Álvarez (56kg),
Yasnier Toledo (64kg), Erislandy Savón (91kg), José
Ángel Larduet (+91kg), Iván Oñate (60kg) and Julio
César la Cruz (81kg), while losers were Gerardo
Cervantes (52kg), Carlos Banteur (75kg) and Luis
Oliva (69kg), who faced Malvin Cabrera, leader of
the ranking in the 3rd World Series. (SE)
