Guerra-Aguirre take silver in
World Series
Cuban diving duo José Antonio Guerra
and Jeinkler Aguirre took silver in the synchronized
platform diving event, in the third leg of
the FINA/Midea Diving World Series 2013 in Edinburgh.
Despite achieving a mark of under
400 (399.63), the divers upped their performance on
the previous leg in Dubai (United Arab Emirates)
where they came in third with 417.39.
The event’s official website states
that Russians Víctor Minibaev and Artem Chesakov
secured the gold, scoring 415.50, while the bronze
medal went to the Mexican pair, Iván García and
Germán Sánchez (388.11).
With their score, the Cubans joined
the podium for the second consecutive time. Guerra
and Aguirre will take part in the fourth leg, in
Moscow April 26-28, where China’s 2012 Olympic gold
winners, Yuan Cao and Yanquan Zhang, will also
compete.
Also participating will be another
pair from China, Yue Lin and Aisen Chen, winners of
the first two competitions in Beijing and Dubai, as
well as British team, Peter Waterfield and Max Brick,
who are taking part in the event this year for the
first time.
The World Series will celebrate its
final leg in the Mexican cities of Guadalajara (May
17-19) and Mexico City (May 24-26). (AIN)
