							Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, first Vice President of 
							the Councils of States and Ministers, and 
							Presidential advisor José Ramón Fernández welcomed a 
							group of returning champions at Havana’s José Martí 
							International Airport on Sunday evening, November 
							23, including swimmers and gymnasts, as well as 
							members of the country’s baseball and softball 
							teams. 
							“We 
							went to do the best we could. Some of us won, others 
							didn’t, but the efforts of all were evident. We 
							dedicate this victory to the people, we know what 
							they were expecting,” emphasized Alfredo Despaigne, 
							a member of Cuba’s gold medal baseball team, while 
							expressing the delegation’s appreciation for the 
							warm welcome. 
							
							Gymnast Manrique Larduet, winner of multiple medals 
							in the regional competition commented to Granma that 
							his accomplishments reflected a year of hard work, 
							saying, “I was completely confident that medals 
							could be won, and now I feel proud, because it was 
							up to me to recover the brilliance gymnastics had 
							lost.”
