Mijaín among the
best in the world

GRECO-Roman wrestler Mijaín López
was selected as one of the sport’s five best in
2012, according to the International Federation of
Associated Wrestling Styles, a distinction he shared
with athletes from Russia, Azerbaijan and Japan.
Mijaín garnered 20 points in the
classic style, thanks to his repeat performance at
the London Olympics and titles he won in the
international Granma-Cerro Pelado competition, the
Pan American Championship in the United States and
the Trofeo Milone, in Italy.
Also recognized by the Federation
were Roman Vlasov (74) and freestyle wrestler Dyamal
Sultanovich Otarsultanov (55), both Russian;
Azerbaijan’s Toghrul Asgarov (60), and Saori Yoshida
(55) from Japan, all London champions and winners of
multiple international competitions.
