Fernando González
receives commemorative medal
Cuban anti-terrorist Fernando
González was awarded with the Dolores Ibárruri, la
Pasionaria, commemorative medal on September 19, in
Madrid.
"The Five are an example that the
United States will never be able to defeat Cuba,
because despite everything they have done to them,
they have failed to break these five men," stated
José Luis Centella, General Secretary of the Spanish
Communist Party (PCE).
The deputy of the Spanish Congress
was responsible for presenting the medal to
González, who accepted it not on his own behalf, but
in the name of the Five.
"I’m grateful to the Party (PCE) for
their perseverance and support, their struggle for
the Five and for Cuba and I am honored to receive
this medal, which is not for Fernando, but rather
the Five and their people," the anti-terrorist
stated.
Dolores Ibárruri, known as
Pasionaria, was a Spanish politician who fought for
women’s rights and an important member of the PCE.
