Alba highlights Cuban decision to send doctors to
combat Ebola

PARIS.— The sending of health
professionals to combat Ebola in Africa was
highlighted recently by Bernardo Álvarez, executive
secretary of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples
of Our America, Alba.
If there is a country which has
been present to help the weakest, in the most
difficult moments, it is Cuba, he said, in a
statement to Prensa Latina, during his participation
in a celebration hosted by the French newspaper
L’Humanité. The official of the alliance, devoted to
promoting Latin American and Caribbean integration,
congratulated Cuba for its solidarity.
“This commitment to go where the
neediest are has always been the spirit of Alba, and
it is clearly what is expressed by this decision
made by the people and government of Cuba,” Álvarez
emphasized.
During a discussion held at the
Cuban international cooperation stand at the event,
Alvarez reiterated that this decision is a clear
demonstration of the meaning of solidarity, the
focus of Alba’s work, serving the less privileged
within the population.
