U.S.: Protests after police officer
kills African American teen

WASHINGTON.— On October 8, an off duty police
officer from St. Louis, the United States, shot and
killed an African American teenager.
According to a statement by St. Louis Chief of
Metropolitan Police, Sam Dotson, the 32 year old
officer who also works for a private security firm
in St. Louis killed an 18 year old African American
male, firing at him 17 times.
According to the police report, the teenager fired
three rounds at the officer, who suffered no
physical harm. However, according to other reports
the young man wasn’t carrying a gun, but was holding
sandwich in his hand.
The victim fled with two other people after the
officer, dressed in a Metropolitan Police uniform,
approached them, explained Dotson in a press
conference.
More than 200 people came together in the South St.
Louis area to protest the killing. Many of the
demonstrators marched toward the city’s main
avenues, blocking off traffic. So far, none of the
protestors have been arrested, reported Dotson.
The demonstrations took place less than 10 miles
from Ferguson, where police officer Darren Wilson,
shot and killed 18 year old African American
teenager Michael Brown, on August 9, which also led
to a series of protests. (RT)
