Five Days for the Cuban Five
draws to a close
Washington.— The protest and solidarity event to
which representatives from almost 30 countries - who
are demanding the U.S. government release the three
Cuban anti-terrorists currently incarcerated in
federal prisons - is entering its final phase.

Since June 4, lawyers, parliamentarians,
representatives of religious institutions, artists,
writers, unionists and friends of the cause for the
Cuban Five, have been fighting to increase political
pressure in order to achieve a solution.
Panel discussions, book presentations, documentary
screenings and a peaceful protest outside the White
House calling for the release of the Cuban
anti-terrorists and Puerto Rican independence leader
Oscar López Rivera have been some of the key
activities that have taken place during the event so
far.
Participants in the event - organized by the
International Committee for the Freedom of the Cuban
Five – paid homage to former Chilean minister
Orlando Letelier and his assistant Ronni Moffit,
assassinated in Washington in 1976.
Francisco Letelier, Orlando Letelier’s son said that
he was 11 years old when his father was taken from
him due to an act of terrorism and joined the many
voices demanding the release of Gerardo, Ramón and
Antonio.
