Having not yet been open a year, the Bodeguita del
Medio in Varadero has surpassed more long standing
establishments in this tourist destination.

Heriberto Rodríguez, head waiter at
the Bodeguita
According to
Carmenate
Mayra
Diaz, manager of the
establishment, its success is due to more
than just its name,
as it offers excellent customer
service. Since the
restaurant and
bar opened on
December 31, 2013, it has acquired
a certain distinctive flair
and sees increasing numbers of
visitors daily, mainly
international tourists.
The initiative, among many others in the area,
reinforces the goal of diversifying and
consolidating the services and offers available,
resulting in increased tourist numbers.
The Bodeguita del Medio, one of the most famous
spots in the Cuban capital, has ten franchises in
different countries across the world and is an
irresistible curiosity for many tourists visiting
the country. With similar charm and ambitions, this
replica bar made its debut in Cuba at the former
site of the Bodegón Criollo, in Playa Avenue, 40th
Street, offering a selection of typical Cuban food
and legendary mojitos, among other services.
Alberto Orozco García, a self-employed worker at the
beach resort, explained that the extremely
accommodating service offered is such that people
feel very at home and enjoy themselves greatly when
visiting. He also alluded to the bohemian
atmosphere, with live traditional Cuban music. It is
a tranquil place where you can breathe peace, García
observed.
Another distinctive
aspect of the establishment,
according to Heriberto Rodríguez,
head waiter and the most
experienced of the
staff, is
the opportunity to write poems, phrases, names or
anything else on the walls, doors, windows and every
corner of the establishment, something that visitors
really enjoy.
Rodríguez
is confident that
very soon, just like
the Bodeguita
del Medio
in
Havana,
this replica
will become a classic
stop on the tourist trail in the
Cuban archipelago.
He noted that visiting
businesspeople have expressed their
satisfaction with the
uniqueness of the product offered
and the quality of
service.
Despite
this, he considers that more efficient
marketing is necessary to continue
to increase the number of
visitors and
transform the bar into one of the
most attractive in the resort.
