Cuba to have more
than 85,000
hotel rooms
Investments in the Cuban tourism
industry will continue in order to complete more
than 85,500 rooms of international standard by 2020,
Tourism Minister Manuel Marrero stated in Camagüey.
Manuel
Marrero, minister of Tourism, emphasized that in the
first six months of the year, revenue from eco-tourism
grew 11.6%.
Marrero commented that the greatest
efforts will be made in maintaining and preserving
current installations, and emphasized that the
country has some 61,200 hotel rooms of international
standard.
He explained that 66.5% of these
rooms are located in four and five star hotels,
emphasizing that, in order to facilitate the arrival
of holidaymakers to the island, Cuba has 10
international airports, in which 36 airlines from 51
countries operate.

visited other Caribbean countries
rated Cuba as superior. |
Marrero highlighted that in the
first six months of the year eco-tourism earned the
national economy 1,315,771 CUC, representing growth
of 11.6%.
He reported that 40.1% of tourists
who visited Cuba and other Caribbean countries in
the first half of 2014 rated Cuba as superior; 45.1
as equal; and only 14.3% as inferior to other
