We are not satisfied with
results achieved, but neither are we discouraged, in the least

President Raúl Castro Ruz addresses National Assembly of People’s Power 8th Legislature July 5, during third period of ordinary sessions.

Also in attendance were José Ramón Machado Ventura, second secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba; and Vice President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez; as well as Esteban Lazo Hernández, president of the National Assembly.

• President Raúl Castro Ruz, in his speech, emphasized the fighting spirit of the people and called upon legislators to work to defend the conquests of the Revolution.

• Over the four days of meetings, deputies analyzed issues of critical importance to the country’s development.

• As has been the case in previous sessions, Council of Ministers Vice President

Marino Murillo Jorge, head of the Policy Guidelines Implementation Committee, reported on progress made in the updating of Cuba’s economic model.

• The Comptroller General’s office reported on the arduous work it has undertaken since its inception five years ago, in August, 2009.

• Approved was an extension, through 2016, of the government administration experiment underway in the provinces of Artemisa and Mayabeque.
