Lisboa-Jardines del Rey flight
route inaugurated
The
opening of a flight between
Lisboa and Jardines del Rey, north of Ciego de Ávila,
confirms the area’s sustained growth and
consolidation as one of the principal tourist
destinations in Cuba.
The
first
Aeroatlantic flight arrived at Cayo Coco airport
with 276 passengers on board, the majority
Portuguese, Italian and Swiss. With a weekly
schedule, flights will continue through September
15, giving tourists the opportunity to enjoy
attractions offered by the area’s natural
environment, listed as a beach resort par
excellence.
José
Manuel Antúnez, director general of the agency
responsible for the project, emphasized that all
tickets for upcoming flights have been sold,
demonstrating European visitors’ growing awareness
of the Coco and Guillermo Keys.
Antúnez stated that an exclusivity contract has been
signed with Gaviota hotels and that 2,000 tourists
are expected to visit Jardines del Rey during the
summer period.
Iyolexis Correa, representative for the Ministry of
Tourism in Ciego de Ávila, emphasized that over the
summer period the resort faces the challenge of
improving the quality of services in all areas and
providing tourists with personalized attention.
She
stated that Coco and Guillermo Keys have been
prepared for the new period with improvements in
infrastructure, restoration of internal roads and
repair of various bridges over the viaduct which
links the Keys to the mainland.
Signage and billboard information has also been
improved, and a greater range of non-hotel products
are now available with the opening of the La Gaviota
shopping center, the multifunctional Rocarena and
the Buena Vista Club in Morón. (AIN)
