Diaz-Canel meets with Portuguese
Deputy Prime Minister

HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 3 (acn) First Vice-president of
the Councils of State and Ministers Miguel Diaz-Canel,
met on Monday morning with Paulo Portas, deputy
prime minister of the Portuguese Republic, who is on
an official visit to Cuba accompanied by a business
delegation that is taking part in Havana’s
International Trade Fair, within the framework of
which the Cuba-Portugal Business Forum was held.
The favorable development of bilateral relations was
verified during the cordial meeting. In addition,
the two authorities expressed their interest in
encouraging Portuguese investment and business with
Cuba, taking as a starting point the opportunities
offered by the new Cuban foreign investment law and
the opening of the Mariel Special Development Zone.
The distinguished visitor was accompanied by Luis
Alvaro Barbosa de Campos Ferreira, Secretary of
State for Foreign Business and Cooperation;
Alexandre Nuno Vaz Batista de Vieira e Brito,
Secretary of State for Food Supply and Agriculture
and Food Research; and Fernando Antonio Albert de
Carvalho, ambassador of Portugal to Cuba.
Cuba was also represented at the meeting by
Rogelio Sierra, deputy foreign minister; Ileana
Nuñez, deputy minister for Foreign Trade and
Investment, and other officials of the Foreign
Ministry. |
