Díaz-Canel receives President of the
Republic of Tatarstan

On the morning of November 2, Miguel Díaz-Canel
Bermúdez, First Vice President of the Councils of
State and Ministers, received the honorable Rustam
Nurgaliyevich Minnikhanov, President of the Republic
of Tatarstan, on an official visit to the country.
During the meeting, both dignitaries confirmed the
development of the historic ties of friendship
between both peoples and governments, also
highlighting the potential to strengthen economic
and commercial exchanges and bilateral relations
between Cuba and this sister republic of the Russian
Federation.
Similarly, both dignitaries expressed their shared
interest in promoting
Tatarstanian
investment and business in Cuba, given the
opportunities offered by Cuba’s new foreign
investment law and the opening of the Mariel Special
Development Zone.
Rustam Nurgaliyevich Minnikhanov was accompanied by
Ravil Zaripov, first vice minister and minister of
Trade and Industry; Radik Guimatdinov, advisor to
the President on international, economic and trade
affairs; Mikhail L. Kamynin, ambassador of the
Russian Federation in Cuba; and Leyla Tazetdinova,
Trade and Economy representative of the Republic of
Tatarstan in Cuba.
Participating on the Cuban side were Raúl Becerra,
Director of Trade Policy with Europe at the Ministry
of Foreign Trade, and Investment and Lourdes Yera,
Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investment expert.
The President of the Republic of Tatarstan had
previously been received by Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, a
vice president of the Council of Ministers, during
which both expressed interest in developing economic
relations between both countries.
