The fight
against corruption in
Cuba is inseparable from its struggle for
independence
• Affirms Comptroller
General Gladys Bejerano at the 21st INTOSAI Congress
in China
BEIJING.—Comptroller General of Cuba
and Council of State Vice President Gladys Bejerano
addressed the closing session of the 21st Congress
of the International Organization of Supreme Audit
Institutions (INTOSAI), a UN agency.
As one of the rapporteurs on the
issue Public Control and General Governance,
Bejerano described the experience, evolution and
transformation of Cuba’s supreme audit body, which
developed from the National Audit Office, attached
to the Ministry of Finance and Prices, to become the
Ministry of Audits and Control.
She added, "The fight against
corruption in Cuba cannot be separated from its
struggle for independence and freedom, it forms part
of our essence and philosophy, which have been
unvaryingly maintained."
The Cuban Comptroller General noted
that many speeches in the sessions focused on the
relationship between audit control and national
governance, and agreement upon its contribution to
good government.
She emphasized the inestimable aid
of INTOSAI in supporting correct functioning of
supreme audit institutions and stated that the
agency is recognized for its work and diverse
actions to increase professional capacity and the
exchange of best practices.
The Congress was attended by 700
delegates from 165 countries.
