The leader of
the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, highlighted in a
letter sent to the President of Venezuela, Nicolás
Maduro, the bravery shown by the head of state in
his speech before the United Nations General
Assembly, in which he called for the re-founding of
the UN.
Below is the
full text of the letter:
To the
President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela,
Nicolás Maduro.
Dear Nicolás:
I had the
pleasure of hearing your speech at the United
Nations General Assembly.

"It was a
courageous and exemplary speech, on a par with the
heroic President Hugo Chávez, who, in that same
place, was capable of unveiling the diabolical
policy of the empire which threatens the survival of
our species.
The same day,
following the meeting of the UN, I also had the
privilege of watching the emotional encounter that
you had with children, youths and adults in the
Bronx, who were very proud to express the values and
sentiments of this area of the city of New York. The
images of those who expressed there the sentiments
of a people who want and deserve to live, are
unforgettable and constitute a message of peace. The
memory of Hugo Chávez was present throughout.
Still touched
by such unforgettable memories, I send you a strong
embrace which I ask you to transmit to your
delegation and your brave people.
Fidel Castro
