PRESIDENT Raúl Castro Ruz, led an October 19 meeting of the Council of Ministers which focused on issues of vital importance to the country’s economy.

Among the topics addressed was the improvement process underway in the Ministry of Agriculture, in both its enterprises and budget-supported entities.

Leonardo Andollo Valdés, second in charge of the Policy Implementation and Development Permanent Commission, reported that the effort has lasted more than two years and began with a thorough diagnostic study which revealed the complexity of the Ministry’s problems which affect the productive and economic performance of the sector.

In both this initial diagnostic and subsequent studies, participating were Ministry leaders and officials; agricultural, forestry and tobacco workers unions; as well as representatives of various Central State Administration bodies.

The Council of Ministers also analyzed the issue of monetary and currency exchange unification, decisions about which were published in a detailed official note, shown below.
