Council of
Ministers focuses on economic issues

PRESIDENT Raúl Castro Ruz, led an
October 19 meeting of the Council of Ministers which
focused on issues of vital importance to the
country’s economy.
Among the topics addressed was the
improvement process underway in the Ministry of
Agriculture, in both its enterprises and budget-supported
entities.
Leonardo Andollo Valdés, second in
charge of the Policy Implementation and Development
Permanent Commission, reported that the effort has
lasted more than two years and began with a thorough
diagnostic study which revealed the complexity of
the Ministry’s problems which affect the productive
and economic performance of the sector.
In both this initial diagnostic and
subsequent studies, participating were Ministry
leaders and officials; agricultural, forestry and
tobacco workers unions; as well as representatives
of various Central State Administration bodies.
The Council of Ministers also
analyzed the issue of monetary and currency exchange
unification, decisions about which were published in
a detailed official note, shown below.
