FIHAV 2014 to promote
foreign investment

With
the presence of some 2,000 international
businesspeople from over 60 countries and 360 Cuban
companies, the XXXII Havana International Fair (FIHAV
2014) will take place November 2 - 8, with a focus
on presenting projects open to foreign investment.
Speaking in a press conference, Rodrigo Malmierca,
Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, said
specific projects
for investment have been
identified and in many
cases feasibility studies
have already been conducted, an
important consideration for prospective investors.
While
participation
will be similar to that of
last year, this time
there is
limited space, as the 25
pavilions
of the Expocuba Convention Center
have already been filled, with further exhibitor
space being located in outside areas,
Malmierca noted.
Orlando
Guillén,
president of the Cuban Chamber
of Commerce, explained that
the Office of Mariel's Special
Development Zone (ZEDM)
stand and
that of the Container Terminal,
will feature as the main exhibitors at the fair.
Among
the activities
at this year’s FIHAV
2014,
Guillén
highlighted the business forums
with delegations from
Venezuela, China, Russia,
Switzerland,
Mexico
and Hungary, in
which
Cuban and international
partners will provide
updates on the status of
their trade relations.
This
year, the countries which
have shown greatest
growth in
comparison to last
year are
Italy and Brazil.
Twenty-nine
high-level delegations
and representatives
of 46
Chambers of Commerce will
visit the exhibits.
The XXXII
Havana
International Fair will
also provide an opportune moment
to celebrate the
500th anniversary
of the city of
Santiago de
Cuba,
reinforcing it as one of
the most important
events of its
kind in Latin America. |
