CUBA received more than two million tourists in the first nine months of the year, according to the National Statistics and Information Office (ONEI).
The ONEI reported that the figure of vacationers arriving in the country from January through September this year reached 2.14 million, the majority from Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Argentina and Italy, in that order.
The specialized publication Caribbean News digital recently placed Cuba among the principal Caribbean tourist destinations, alongside the Dominican Republic and Jamaica.
Of the 26 countries which reported their visitor totals to the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO), Cuba, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic have enjoyed the best performance this year in terms of accommodated tourists, as opposed to those on cruise liners or excursions, the magazine noted. (PL)
