Cuban cigars
protected against forgery and contraband
According to an official statement
by International Habanos Corporation S.A., a new
hologram will appear henceforth, on the protective
seal of the most exclusive habanos,
Cohiba Behike, in an effort to combat commercial
transgressions such as forgery and smuggling.
Increased
security measures have been incorporated into the
Cohiba Behíke, one of Cuba’s most exclusive
habanos, in an effort to combat forgery.
The statement confirmed that the new
modification entails a slight change to the seal,
replacing the previous hologram with a new, superior
design.
The measure will increase the
products traceability and security of the seal. The
new hologram will gradually be incorporated into the
seals of the three types of Cohiba Behike; BHK 52,
BHK 54 and BHK 56. Cigars with the old and new seal
will both be on sale together, for a few months, the
report stated.
The Behike series was first
presented in 2010, during the 12th Habano Festival
and since then has joined the catalogue of world
renowned Cohiba cigars. Behike is one of the finest
and most exclusive series in the Cohiba line.
Cohiba Behike is produced every year
in extremely limited quantities, and is
characterized by its super premium-quality blend
using the "half time" method, which gives the leaves
exceptional character and flavor distinguishing the
series as the best in terms of taste and aroma.
Since its launch in 2010, the Behike
seals have depicted the head of a Cohiba Indian in
relief on holographic paper, as well as an exclusive
hologram on each individual cigar. This design set a
technological precedent for future Cohiba seals.
The new Behike seal with increased
security features will allow for improved monitoring
of each seal and cigar. The rest of the seal’s
design remains unchanged. (PL)
