Raul Castro Votes in Cuba’s Legislative Elections

First Vice President Raul Castro Ruz voted in Cuba’s parliamentary elections Sunday morning after observing the swearing in of the poll workers and the verification of his name on the voter registration list at his polling place in the Havana municipality of Plaza de la Revolucion.

Raul congratulated the poll workers around the country, present at the voting stations since the early morning hours on Sunday. A total of 8.4 million Cubans are eligible to vote for members of their provincial legislatures and the national parliament for a five-year term.

Raul Castro, who is also the minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR), stressed the importance of the electoral process for the country and informed that the new parliament would be constituted on February 24.
