Chinese publication
of
Fidel’s reflections
A compilation of excerpts, in
Spanish and Chinese, of 38 Reflections by the
historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel
Castro, addressing the issues of peace and
disarmament was presented in Bejing, May 30.
|

In
these Reflections, Fidel reaffirms the
universal relevance of his revolutionary
ideas about world events. |
The pamphlet was produced in a joint
effort by the Cuban embassy and the Chinese People’s
Association for Peace and Disarmament, an
organization recognized by the United Nations with
the Peace Messenger prize, for their outstanding
contribution to the promotion of friendship and
cooperation between China and other countries around
the world.
Attending the event held at the
Cuban embassy were the general secretary of the
association, Zhu Rui, and representatives from the
ministries of Foreign Relations and Justice; the
Communist Party of China; the Communist Youth; and
several former Chinese ambassadors in Latin American.
Cuban Ambassador Alberto Blanco
explained that, in these Reflections, Fidel
reaffirms the universal relevance of, and advanced
thinking reflected in, his revolutionary ideas about
world events. Cuba, like China, the diplomat said,
strongly opposes the arms race, hegemony, and the
use of war, advocating for the prohibition and
destruction of nuclear weapons. He added that Cuba
likewise supports environmental protection, social
equality and sustainable development.
Also speaking during the event were
Zhu, and the painter Song Bin, a member of the peace
organization, who presented Blanco with a
calligraphy of Fidel’s words, "We are not in favor
of war, but rather peace amongst all peoples." (PL)
