On November 11, she was awarded the
Friendship Medal conceded by the Council of State of
the Republic of Cuba, on the basis of a nomination
made by the Cuban Friendship Institute (ICAP) in
recognition of her constant work in the solidarity
with Cuba movement.
In the Salvador Allende Memorial
House, where she received the distinction, Glaif
commented that Cuban is a model for social
transformation and expressed her pride in the
accomplishments of the Cuban Revolution, with which
she has been linked since 1959.
Glaif was also a founder of the
Argentine Committee to Free the Five in 2000 and
reiterated that one of the objectives of the
committee is to extend knowledge of the case to
every corner of her country.
The activist will participate in the
9th Colloquium for the Freedom of the Five and
Against Terrorism, taking place in Holguín through
November 17.
From 1949 to 1961, the honoree was a
member of organizing committees for eight World
Festivals of Youth. From 1974 through 1983, she
actively participated in the Argentine Solidarity
with Chile Committee, representing the Argentine
Human Rights League (LADH), and in 1990 joined the
Multi-sectorial Solidarity with Cuba group and the
Friendship with Cuba House in Buenos Aires.
