More than 2,500 polling stations in the central Cuban province of
Camaguey opened their doors at 7:00 a.m. sharp for general elections
to receive voters who will elect delegates to the Provincial Assembly
and representatives to the Cuban Parliament.
Preparations have been underway for weeks across the country to
ensure a fluid process enabling citizens to vote as easily as possible,
reported the digital newspaper Adelante.
The province of Camaguey will elect 79 delegates to the Provincial
Assembly and 45 representatives to the Cuban Parliament.
As in all of Cuba, in Camaguey there is a shared conscious that a
slate vote represents a revolutionary strategy to unite the country to
face the challenges imposed by the US enemy. In addition, a united
vote at the polls is a way to demonstrate the public’s confidence in
the abilities and human qualities of the nominees.
