Thank
you Führer
WE
really do have good reason to be happy. Yesterday,
May 20, 2003, at the 101st anniversary commemorating
that sad and distressing day and year when, after
destroying the Party of José Martí and having
disarmed the Liberation Army, they handed us a
caricature of a Republic with the Platt Amendment
and the right of intervention, Mr. Bush gave us the
following extremely sweet and moving message (in
Spanish):
"Today,
Cubans around the world are celebrating May 20,
Cuban Independence Day. On behalf of the people of
the United Stars I greet the Cuban community. My
hope is for the Cuban people to enjoy the same
freedom and rights as we do. Dictatorships have no
place in the Americas. God bless the Cuban people
who are fighting for their liberty. Thank you."
For
some time now, including yesterday, the subversive,
treacherous and ultra-offensive radio station
baptized with the name of José Martí, went on the
air with four new frequencies. A known Miami
terrorist freely took to the high seas, beyond the
12-mile limit and facing the coastline between Boca
de Jaruco and Matanzas, to practice sending
television transmissions to Cuba. He was brazenly
violating the international norms that govern such
material, doing so with the complete tolerance of
the United States. Individuals like him, plus others
who act in the service of the U.S. government, are
never going to stop at the isolation cages installed
in the Cuban territory of Guantánamo, occupied by
force by the United States where citizens from
dozens of countries are locked up without any
legality or observance of standards.
In
addition to this, and as a special surprise from the
Bush administration, which guarded it as if it was a
great war secret, the television signal came on the
air from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the evening,
utilizing channels and systems used for educational,
information and entertainment programs in various
provinces.
Honestly
speaking, such transmissions do not constitute a
technical success of which to be proud. Very few
people listened to their racket.
The
U.S. government should not forget that Cuban radio
can be heard on the medium wave in many U.S. states.
Is
this a further crude and gross provocation of Cuba?
On the
other hand, an AFP cable datelined Washington,
informed yesterday: "Republican Congress
members Lincoln and Mario Díaz-Balart and Ileana
Ros-Lehtinen indicated that George Bush’s
government has still not finished reviewing its
policy on Cuba in response to the recent repression
of dissidents."
As we
all recall, those were the people who, together with
the U.S. ambassador to the Dominican Republic, from
the intimate circle of the charming Bush and Florida
Governor "Baby" Jeb of the same surname,
recently affirmed that Cuba is the next target after
Iraq.
Our
compatriots can appreciate the extraordinarily
honesty and piousness of the U.S. government’s
message to the Cuban people, and the incredible
patriotism of those so-called dissidents who, up to
their necks in the empire’s dollars, are fighting
for Cuba’s freedom and independence.
Wolves
disguised as grannies do not and can never trick
anybody. If Mr. Bush still doesn’t know what
measures to take, the Cuban people are absolutely
sure about what their task should be. Oh so sweet
and cynical maneuvers of deceit are not going to
persuade anyone that Cuba is not running any risk.
Nor
will Little Red Riding Hood’s devourers renounce
the idea of maintaining the sword of Damocles of
economic and other similar measures punishing the
Revolution over our heads. All the measures
announced or predicted as possibilities for
strengthening the blockade and strangling our
economy have been analyzed. None of them will have
the success expected from them.
We do
not believe them at all when now, in an attempt to
amend their stupid threats, they are alleging that
all options are open save that of invasion. They
said the same thing after the mercenary invasion of
the Bay of Pigs and before the October Crisis when
they had already elaborated and approved more than
15 pretexts in March 1962 that would appear to have
emerged from a veritable Olympiad of cynicism,
callousness and infamy.
Nor do
we believe them when they express concern over
possible mass migratory exoduses that, in reality,
they are trying to provoke.
Their
economic blockade, their efforts to create
additional difficulties of that type, their
murderous Cuban Adjustment Act and their shameful
threats to do in Cuba what they did in Iraq, only
serve to elevate potential migration from inside
Cuba. Public and private statements by the main
capos of the Miami terrorist groups and the extreme
right continue to make us perfectly aware that the
objective of their provocations, in this context, is
to provoke incidents that would serve as a pretext
to attack our nation.
Within
the "select" group of 11 persons invited
to commemorate the ill-fated and shameful date of
May 20, three were notorious terrorists:
1.
Eusebio de Jesús Pañalver Mazorra. Arrested on
December 12, 1995 during the Clinton period by the
U.S. authorities in California while preparing an
armed incursion into Cuba, when an arsenal of
weapons were seized from him. He is linked to
terrorist Luis Posada Carriles, detained in Panama
for a planned attempt to detonate 48 kilograms of
explosives at a student meeting to which the
president of the Council of State of Cuba was
invited.
2.
Ernesto Díaz Rodríguez. He was involved in a plot
to assassinate Hugo Chávez, president of Venezuela,
in 1999. He traveled to Venezuela for the 7th
Ibero-American Summit on the Isle of Margarita in
order to attack the Cuban delegation. On that same
occasion he was captured by U.S. coastguards off
Puerto Rico aboard a yacht en route for the Isle of
Margarita to that end, with two Caliber-50 guns with
telescopic lenses, to be utilized to assassinate the
head of the delegation, Fidel. Both the vessel and
the guns were owned by executives from the
Cuban-American National Foundation. Despite the
evidence, those involved were released through the
influence of and pressure from the Miami terrorist
mafia.
3.
Angel Francisco D’fana Serrano. A former
counterrevolutionary prisoner. He had been
sanctioned in Cuba for acts of terrorism.
Although
they talked very confidentially with Mr. Bush, given
the group’s composition, clearly he wouldn’t say
a word about highly intimate plans and his
commitment to eliminate the Cuban head of state
contracted with the capos of the Cuban-American
mafia who so diligently brought him to the U.S.
presidency by means of fraud.
Nevertheless
they shouldn’t be in any hurry to believe that
their machinations and sinister plots will keep the
Cuban people and their leaders awake at night. Cuba’s
fundamental concern does not emanate from problems
related to its own security. The world has witnessed
the dignity and valor of the Cuban people made
evident at the Bay of Pigs, the October Crisis, when
the European socialist bloc and the Soviet Union
itself collapsed, and throughout the 20 months after
the atrocious attack on the U.S. people in New York.
That terrorist attack was converted into a source of
hysteria, a pretext to threaten pre-emptive and
surprise attacks on 60-plus countries and strike
distant and obscure corners of the world with
weapons of mass destruction, in the face of a God
that, according to the author of that fundamentalist
fantasy, is not neutral.
This
is a truly heroic people that, when many cowardly,
mediocre and ignorant politicians were incapable of
seeing clearly that the terrifying reality of a
world Nazi-fascist dictatorship is hanging over the
planet, have not hesitated to denounce it. Those who
remain pathetically silent in the face of such
facts, both rulers and individuals, have absolutely
no moral right to criticize a country like Cuba,
which is defending its most sacred rights. History
will inter them along with their cowardice, their
complicity and their lies!
The
images of millions of people claiming their
independence, freedom, respect for their religious
values and ethics, and the return of their resources
taken by force in a country invaded without the
least legal or moral justification, would be more
than sufficient reason for any sensible politician.
Such problems cannot be resolved with bombardments
and missiles, tanks and cannons, or nuclear,
biological and chemical weapons.
Mr.
Bush, the author of bombardments of cities that,
transmitted on television, shook and mobilized the
world, leaving life-long scars on millions of
children, mothers and the elderly who had to endure
the Dantesque attacks, is promising that "the
Cubans will soon be free" and that
"dictatorships have no place in Latin
America." Fortunately, that is a fact. The U.S.
people are going to grow tired of his disastrous and
fanatical ideas that could lead, among other things,
to economic and ecological disasters. The Latin
American and Caribbean region will never allow his
plundering Free Trade Area of the Americas by means
of which he wants to seize from them their
sovereignty and resources, and will far less resign
itself to his world Nazi-fascist dictatorship.
Mr.
Bush: we express our most profound gratitude for
your extraordinary nobleness and infinite generosity
to the Cubans on this May 20, 2003. You will see
with what overflowing emotion and affection we will
receive you in the land of Martí and Maceo, of
Camilo and Che!
