BROTHER OF POSADA VICTIM TO ROS-LEHTINEN:
"You
don’t even see the terrorist within!"
Jean-Guy Allard
• IN a letter addressed to Ileana
Ros-Lehtinen, known for her support for notorious
Cuban-American terrorists, Livio di Celmo, brother
of the Italian-Canadian tourist killed in 1997 by a
mercenary hired by Luis Posada Carriles, accuses the
U.S. Congresswoman of being no less than an
accessory to the crime.
Fabio di Celmo (1965-1997) died on
September 4, 1007 in the lobby of Havana’s
Copacabana Hotel, when an explosive device planted
there by Salvadoran terrorist Raúl Cruz León, sent
to Cuba by Posada, detonated.
"After the murder of my brother in
1997, I began to investigate who was behind the 1997
terrorist attacks in Cuba and discovered that they
originated in the United States," Livio di Celmo
states in the letter, recalling that the Cuban-American
terrorist networks have caused the deaths of "thousands
of civilians since 1959."
The names of Posada Carriles and his
associates are always appearing in available
declassified documents, he notes.
"I learned that in the U.S., members
of Congress are among those who have lobbied on
behalf of these terrorist criminals. In fact, your
name, Ms. Lehtinen, appears time and time again."
"In this open letter, I wish to
express the extreme indignation and revulsion that I
feel knowing that there are people like you in the
U.S. Congress who are so blinded by hatred for the
legitimate leaders of Cuba that your twisted minds
consider Luis Posada Carriles and Orlando Bosch as
heroic patriots.
"In your fantasy world, it would
seem that there are good terrorists and bad
terrorists... For you and your people, and those who
helped to give form to the twisted policy of the
United States toward Cuba, this does not seem to be
a problem. How shameless!" Di Celmo states.
And he adds, "You don’t even see the
terrorist you have within!"
Livio di Celmo reminds Ros-Lehtinen
that her constituents include families who have lost
their sons and daughters in combat in Afghanistan,
Iraq, and elsewhere in her so-called "war on
terrorism."
"If they knew that Congress members
had advocated on behalf of terrorists like Orlando
Bosch and Luis Posada Carriles, I am certain of
their indignation at this double standard and
hypocrisy!" the brother of the murdered tourist
affirms.
"I am convinced, Ms. Lehtinen, that
the families of the victims of Luis Posada Carriles
and Orlando Bosch will continue demanding that all
of those involved in these acts of terrorism be held
accountable: the mercenaries, the masterminds, those
who fund them, U.S. government agencies and
individuals, including members of Congress, who are
lobbying on behalf of these criminals and who are
deliberately ignoring or tolerating their murderous
acts," Livio di Celmo concludes.
Ileana Ros-Lehtinen got herself
elected to Congress by campaigning in favor of the
release of Orlando Bosch in 1989 when, after buying
his way out of prison in Venezuela with the
complicity of Otto Reich, U.S. ambassador to
Venezuela at the time, he was detained by Miami
immigration authorities.
Advised by Reich and Jeb Bush,
brother of George W. Bush, Lehtinen used her defense
of Bosch and the support of Jorge Mas Canosa, leader
of the terrorist Cuban-American National Foundation
to win election. She has always supported Luis
Posada Carriles, bother overtly and secretly.
Ros-Lehtinen has also defended
terrorist Valentine Hernández, sentenced for killing
another terrorist, Luciano Nieves, while calling for
the release of Eduardo Arocena, chief of the Omega 7
group, responsible for many terrorist attacks and
killings. On July 8, 1996 Arocena had no hesitation
in sending a letter of encouragement to Rodolfo
Frómeta, chief of the Comandos F-4 terrorist network.
