Bulletin No. 3 for
Tropical Storm Tomas
GIVEN information received from the
Weather Forecasting Center at the Institute of
Meteorology as the possible development of Tropical
Storm Tomas, it was decided to move the following
areas to the hurricane alarm phase: Guantánamo
province and the municipalities of Moa, Frank País,
Sagua de Tánamo, Mayarí, Antilla and Gibara, in the
east of Holguín province, from 10:00pm yesterday
(Nov. 4).
To
maintain the province of Santiago de Cuba and the
municipalities of Banes and Rafael Freyre in Holguín
in the alert phase, and the provinces of Granma and
Las Tunas in the information phase.
Close attention must be given to rainfall volumes,
in particular the current situation of reservoirs;
as well as indicating the measures to be adopted
given the possible impact of intense rainfall, winds
and sea flooding in areas of risk.
To continue rationally meeting
measures laid down to protect the population and
economic resources exposed to risk. State
departments and agencies, economic agencies, social
institutions and the population in general should
remain alert to bulletins from the Institute of
Meteorology and follow instructions from the Civil
Defense and local authorities in an orderly fashion.
