Official Note

The Council of State, at the proposal of its President, has agreed the following cadre movements:

1. To release from his position as Vice President of the Council of Ministers José Ramón Fernández Alvarez, who has held this responsibility for many years.

Taking into account his experience and positive results in the exercise of his position, particularly his contribution to the country’s educational development, José Ramón Fernández Alvarez, has been appointed Advisor to the President of the Councils of State and Ministers.

2. To promote Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez to the position of Vice President of the Council of Ministers, releasing him from his responsibility as Minister of Higher Education.

3. To promote to the position of Minister of Higher Education Rodolfo Alarcón Ortiz, currently Deputy Minister of this entity.

4. To release José M. Miyar Barrueco from his position as Minister of Science, Technology and the Environment. Taking into account his meritorious role and results in the development of the country’s scientific activity, plus his experience, he has been appointed director of the Higher Organization of Business Leadership, to be created subordinate to the Council of Ministers, to head research, development, production and commercialization of medicaments, a sphere which he has personally directed since the creation of the Scientific Complex.
