Parliamentary
commissions in session
Susana Lee
MEMBERS
of the 12 permanent working commissions of the
National Assembly of People's Power are working on
their ample agendas today and tomorrow, prior to the
5th Ordinary Session of the Cuban Parliament.
In line with the parliamentary
session convened for August 1, the commissions for
Constitutional and Legal Affairs, National Defense,
Services, Economic Affairs and Local People's Power
Bodies are to discuss draft legislation and other
documents in order to present their reports to
National Assembly deputies.
The
Constitutional and Legal Affairs Commission is to
work on the Modifications to the Administrative
Political Division bill and, in conjunction with the
Services and National Defense Commissions, on the
Road Safety Code.
Meanwhile, the Economic Affairs
Commission is to consider the report on meeting the
state budget for 2009, which Parliament discussed in
a preliminary way in its session of last December.
The Local Bodies Commission and a temporary
commission created specifically for this area, are
to examine the population’s requests, complaints,
denunciations and suggestions.
This Friday parliamentarians are to
meet in a plenary session to discuss reports from
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the General
Customs of the Republic, and meet with members of
the Martha Machado cultural brigade. On Saturday,
they will debate Law 1304 of July 3, 1976, on the
country’s political-administrative division and, for
the first time, assess reports on the activities of
the current 7th Legislature from the Constitutional
and Legal Affairs and Services Commissions.
