Cuba condemns
coup d’état in Honduras
Cuba today condemned the coup d’état carried out
against the constitutionally elected and legitimate
president of Honduras, Manuel Zelaya, who was
forcibly removed from office and taken to Costa
Rica.
Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla
called on the coup leaders to return Zelaya to
office and held them responsible for the life of
Honduran Foreign Minister Patricia Rodas.
At 10 a.m. in Honduras, Rodas was with the
ambassadors of Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua, and
was taken to an Air Force base in Tegucigalpa by a
group of about 15 soldiers wearing ski masks. (PL)
