Israel planning nuclear attack on Iranian
installations
Affirms British newspaper
LONDON, January 7.—Israel is
planning a nuclear strike on installations within
the Iranian nuclear development program, according
to The Sunday Times of Britain.
Two Israeli Air Force squadrons
are currently training to attack an Iranian enriched
uranium plant in Natanz with tactical nuclear bombs,
states the newspaper, quoting Israeli sources.
The Sunday Times
affirms that Israeli pilots have gone to Gibraltar
in recent weeks to train for the return flight over
the 3,200-plus kilometers involved in that mission.
Three possible routes have been
considered, one of which passes over Turkey and thus
avoids both Syrian and Iraqi airspace.
Air Force squadrons based in
Hatzerim in the Neguev and Tel Nof desert south of
Tel Aviv have received training in the deployment of
tactical nuclear bombs under the supervision of
General Eliezer Shkedi, commander of the Israeli Air
Force.
This would be the first nuclear
strike since two nuclear bombs fell on the Japanese
cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945.
“As soon as they get the green
light, the mission to destroy the Iranian nuclear
project will be launched, an Israeli source informed
the newspaper.
The Sunday Times
adds that Israeli and U.S. military chiefs have had
various meetings to study a possible nuclear attack
on Iran. (EFE)
