José Antonio Huelga Stadium in the city of Sancti Spíritus, about 350 kilometers east of Havana, is the main venue.

The Group A teams, consisting of Cuba, South Korea, Panama, Australia, Holland and South Africa will be playing here.

Group B, comprised of the United States, China, Chinese Taipei, Mexico, Canada, Italy and Spain, will play in José Ramón Cepero Stadium in the neighboring province of Ciego de Ávila.

It was also reported that some of the games will be held in the city of Santa Clara.

According to the schedule, Venezuela will be the first team to arrive in Sancti Spíritus to train.

Likewise, Canada, China, Chinese Taipei, Holland and Italy are expected to arrive before the official competition to play against Cuba.

The island’s team manager is the experienced Carlos Martí, who told the national press that “the kids are in ideal shape to win this championship.”

Some of the most outstanding players include Dayán Viciedo and Leonis Martín, who played well with the Villa Clara team during the last National Series.

Martí noted that all of their training goals had been met, with very satisfactory results.

He also noted that the team has an excellent pitching line-up, including Juan Yaser Serrano, Fredy Jasiel Alvarez, Alberto Soto, Adonis Chapman and Vladimir García, who played well in the last Cuban championship.

That group is in the hands of former outstanding pitcher Lázaro Valle, who said that some of them can throw at 92-plus miles per hour.
