received Alejandro Gómez, Cuban deputy minister of
foreign affairs, with whom she reviewed the positive
state of bilateral relations and exchanged views on
Latin America.
Giraldo Mazola, Cuban ambassador to Chile, and Jaime
Tohá, that of Chile in Cuba, attended the meeting,
described as pleasant and cordial.
Deputy Minister González informed Prensa Latina that
during the conversation Bachelet inquired after the
state of health of Cuban President Fidel Castro and
wished him a swift recovery.
González headed a delegation here that participated
in the 3rd meeting of the Political Consultation
Mechanism between Chile and Cuba, in which the South
American country was represented by Alberto Van
Klaveren, undersecretary of foreign relations.

covered political, economic, commercial, cultural,
cooperative, educational, and scientific and
technological areas.

that the political dialogue between the delegations
took place in a comprehensive and cordial atmosphere
and that there was consensus in maintaining the
annual meetings of the bilateral consultation
mechanism.
Subsequently, González addressed a group of
executives at the 3rd Chile-Cuba Business Forum,
highlighting Cuba’s political will to have good
trade relations with Chile.
