Another three U.S. soldiers died
in Iraq in the last two days, stated the
U.S. army on December 25

One soldier died in a bomb attack in Baghdad yesterday, while the other two died from injuries suffered during a confrontation on Sunday, stated the army in a communiqué.

A bomb placed by the roadside exploded today close to a patrol in southern Baghdad, causing the death of one soldier and injuring another two.

On Sunday, one marine infantryman and a soldier died in combat in Anbar province, the center of the Sunni resistance and the most dangerous region in Iraq.

Three U.S. soldiers also died on Saturday when a mine placed on a road in eastern Baghdad exploded. The three soldiers from the 89th Military Police Brigade were killed and another injured when their vehicle was the target of the device, the army announced in a communiqué.

At least 86 U.S. soldiers have been killed in Iraq to date in December, according to news reports.

The most recent figures brought the number of U.S. deaths in Iraq since the March 2003 invasion to 2, 971, according to the Pentagon. (Xinhua)
