Cuban deputies to be informed on
housing situation today
HAVANA, December 18 (PL).—A plenary session of
deputies to the National Assembly of People's Power
is to receive a report this Monday on the progress
of the house building program.
This meeting is the first in a week of activities by
this legislative body, which ends Friday with its
ordinary period of sessions.
In today’s session, parliamentarians will listen to
speeches from high-ranking officials of agencies
responsible for executing the plan aimed at
improving the island’s housing situation.
On the other hand, representatives from the Ministry
of Labor and Social Security are to detail the
advance of resolutions in that sphere.
These relate to resolutions drafted in relation to
labor discipline and working hours, backed by the
recent Central Organization of Cuban Trade Unions
Congress as instruments favorable to increased
productivity.
The Productive Activity Commission is to debate
sugar cane production and the situation in the dairy
industry, as well as achievements in the supply of
animal protein.
José Luis Rodríguez, minister of economy and
planning, who heads the Economic Affairs Commission,
is to talk on economic objectives for 2007 and
evaluate achievements in this area in 2006.
All the commissions are to discuss the national
budget resolution for 2007, to be approved in the
Ordinary Session Plenary on December 22.
