Losses of U.S. troops and collaborators
in Iraq
BAGHDAD, December 17.— In the
last few hours, the Iraqi resistance caused the
death of nine U.S. and native forces, while 76
deaths were reported in various points of the
capital of this Arab country.
The Central Command of the U.S.
troops admitted that three of its soldiers lost
their lives and a fourth was injured in an
insurgency attack last night in northern Baghdad.
The rebels exploded a mortar in
the path of a patrol on a mission to safeguard a
highway so that another unit could maneuver without
risk.
In just 17 days of this month the
United States has lost 60 troops, making a total of
2,949 in a little over three-and-a-half of war, the
majority brought down by the resistance.
The Iraqi Ministry of Defense
announced this Sunday that an officer of the
National Guard died and another three were injured
when a homemade bomb went off in the path of their
vehicle.
