Rice and Straw make
surprise
visit to Baghdad
BAGHDAD—U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice
and British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw traveled to
Baghdad, Iraq, on Sunday, April 2, to pressure for
the appointment of a new government in that occupied
country.
Together with U.S. Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad,
the two high-ranking officials were received by
Iraqi President Yalal Talabani, who told them about
his unsuccessful efforts to form a government during
the last three months.
