Shared Dreams
2005 Reveals Common Dreams of Peace and Security by
Artists in Cuba and The U.S.
(PRWEB) October 1, 2005.— Artists Leading the Way
Across the Political Divide. Americans would be
surprised to find out that there's one area NOT
covered by the U.S. embargo on Cuban products:
Information such as books, magazines, and digital
art. Even though the U.S. disagrees with the form of
government in Cuba, Americans and Cubans are free to
exchange ideas though art and culture. And it
happens at Shared Dreams 2005.
Real collaboration between Americans and Cubans is
here today, despite the politicians.
"Shared Dreams: Cuba and the U.S Across The Digital
Divide" is part of the International Digital Design
Conference held annually in Cuba. With Shared Dreams
2005, Cuban and U.S. designers were selected to
collaborate using the language that they know best:
visual design and digital technology. The result is
a collection of art that demonstrates how both
Cubans and Americans think surprisingly alike when
it comes to their respective viewpoints about peace
and security in their lifetimes.
Better Late Than Never: Americans in Cuba.
Even though the International Digital Design
Conference has been going on for seven years, Shared
Dreams in 2004 marked the first time US designers
ever reached across the border to collaboratively
develop works of art with Cuban designers. Their
common goals of greater peace, understanding, and
new friendships have dramatically flourished in
Shared Dreams 2005. This year's theme, "Dreams of
Peace", have produced works of beauty and compassion
that provide a glimpse into the future of relations
between Americans and Cubans.
Premiere: the fruits of this new cross-cultural
collaboration. The West Coast premiere of Shared
Dreams 2005 will be at the EpoxyBox Gallery in
Venice, CA on October 14th. It will feature the
entire original collection of Cuban and American art
produced for the Conference in Havana, before
heading off to Galleries in New York and Miami.
Meet the Cuban Artists via Web Simulcast: The Cuban
artists will be
available for interview via Web Simulcast on October
14th from 5pm - 7pm at the EpoxyBox Gallery.
A Peek Into a Different World: Larry Richard of
Breakthrough Marketing co-produced the Shared Dreams
2005 event and can speak to how the program benefits
Americans and Cubans. He also can speak to the
larger program: the International Digital Design
Conference, which is held annually in Cuba and is
attended by countries from around the globe. Larry
will fill you in on what goes on in Cuba and the
benefits that Shared Dreams can bring to America. |
