"The aim of the US government is to protect Posada Carriles," affirms Fidel

BY JEAN-GUY ALLARD —Special for Granma International

FIDEL Castro, the leader of the Cuban government, yesterday condemned the "farce" of Luis Posada Carriles’ arrest in Miami after the international terrorist had given interviews and a televised press conference.

Fidel mentioned three treaties via which the U.S. is obliged to extradite Posada to Venezuela, the country that has officially requested his extradition.
Fidel mentioned three treaties via which the U.S. is obliged to extradite Posada to Venezuela, the country that has officially requested his extradition.

"Who are they going to tell that they knew nothing and they only found out yesterday?" asked the Cuban president, during a televised Roundtable discussion. "Who’s going to believe that tall tale?"

"It’s a total farce, a huge lie, a great fraud, an attempt to escape from what they know is a difficult situation, besieged with evidence, facts and realities."

How can they justify the hundreds of billions of dollars they say are allocated to protect the US people? The 15 different intelligence services and 180,000 men who make up those departments? How can they justify to the world the fact that so much money has been invested when that amount could have done away with poverty in a significant part of the Third World? added Fidel, accusing the US government of "protecting" the international terrorist who was attached to the US intelligence services.

"The intention of the US government is to protect Posada Carriles, and the whole concept of what they should do with him is based on the idea of protecting him, continuing to protect him and preventing him from being brought before the courts, brought to justice," he said.

Fidel indicated that the arrest of the international terrorist had been previously arranged by the Cuban-American mafia and the government. "It was all arranged but it didn’t look right to arrest the terrorist in the middle of a press conference. But the decision was to arrest him and we already knew that the day before."

"This is really ridiculous, putting all the organizations, all the intelligence services, in such a humiliating situation," he commented.

Fidel demonstrated the presence of Jeb Bush, brother of the US president, in the conspiracy.

"Is it worth asking what Jeb knew about what his little buddies were doing in Florida? Was he the only Florida citizen who didn’t know that Posada Carriles was there? He would be the only one!" he observed.

"One question: What role did Jeb play in the matter? Given that the whole world knows that the person who essentially manages relations with the mafia is Jeb. The third prince in the Bush dynasty, and aspirant to the throne."

HOW MANY SECRETS DOES BOSCH HAVE?

The head of the Cuban government lamented the fact that coverage of the case by the US press has not included information on Orlando Bosch, "one of the individuals who should be brought to justice for the crimes committed in many different places, not just in the United States.

Fidel Castro recalled how CORU founder Bosch was pardoned in 1990 by George Bush Sr, who was "head of the CIA during the Pinochet regime."

He mentioned the role of Vernon Walters whom DINA chief General Manuel Contreras now attributes with having persuaded Pinochet to murder former Foreign Minister Orlando Letelier.

"How many secrets does Bosch have with respect to Walter’s role and Operation Condor and collaboration between the US and Chilean governments.

"We should look into this further!" said Fidel, explaining that Bosch was a CIA agent.

"They loaned this man, they put him at Pinochet’s disposal so as to murder Letelier with the cooperation of CORU organizations, and they also mentioned the Cuban Nationalist Movement, which was precisely Guillermo Novo Sampoll," he stressed.

"Pinochet had a CIA agent at his disposal. This should not be forgotten" he highlighted, and then mentioned the judge who had rejected Bosch’s immigration application in the United States, describing as "a terrorist on the margin of laws and human decency."

"And he was the head of CORU, the organization that, during a wave of terrorist attacks, sabotaged the plane. He was Posada’s boss.

With respect to Posada’s arrest, the Cuban president indicated that the US government had no other alternative. "The scandal was already universal."

"They were faced with a real shock, all their lies and plans were on show, just like their commitment to the mafia and the terrorists, most of all the two main exponents of this terrorism."

THREE TREATIES DEMANDING EXTRADITION

Fidel reiterated the fact that Cuba has ruled out trying Posada Carriles: "Cuba has categorically rejected that idea and will once again reject the idea. Under no circumstance, even if they call for it, even if they hand him over, we have said that will not try him; that we do not want to try him even though we are a thousand times more capable than the United States of trying him."

He mentioned three treaties through which the United States is obliged to extradite Posada to Venezuela, which has officially requested his extradition, and confirmed that is the most suitable country to try the international terrorist.

At the end of his commentary, Fidel called on the progressive media of the world to demand justice of the US government.

"We must demand that it fulfills laws, that it respects treaties, that it meets international regulations. That it does not create false delays. We, the progressive people of the world, of Latin America, from everywhere around the world, have to demand and urge them to try the criminals, to try the terrorists!" declared the leader of the Cuban Revolution.
