Canadian coalition
calls for
Posada Carriles’ extradition
THE Canadian coalition Venezuela We Are With You,
comprised of more than 40 political and
socio-cultural groups, has demanded the extradition
to Venezuela of Cuban-born terrorist Luis Posada
Carriles, according to Prensa Latina.
Activists from Montreal, Toronto and Quebec
delivered a document containing that demand to María
del Pilar Hernández, Venezuelan deputy minister of
foreign relations, and to that country’s ambassador
in Canada, Jesus Arnaldo Pérez.
The letter, addressed to President Hugo Chávez,
supports the demand for Posada’s extradition
presented by Venezuela to the United States,
describing him as a "murderer at the service of
imperialist terrorism."
Posada is responsible for blowing up a Cuban
passenger plane in 1976, killing 73 people, and in
1985 he broke out of a Venezuelan jail to avoid
facing trial for that crime.
The letter, reprinted by the Venezuelan online
publication Aporrea, also calls for the
arrest and trial of Orlando Bosch, "another criminal
of the same gang orchestrated by the CIA."
It notes that Bosch, together with Posada, is
responsible for several crimes, as well as the
terrorist attack on the Cubana Airlines plane.
The document likewise condemns the assassination
attempts on the Venezuelan president, which, it
affirms, "the empire and the CIA are planning."
It declares that such plans are a desperate
attempt to use assassinations to stop the anti-imperialist
advances by the peoples, the Bolivarian government
and the Cuban Revolution, the Bolivarian Alternative
for the Americas and the projects for Latin American
integration.
The Venezuela We Are With You Coalition affirmed
that with those actions, the US rulers will only
further expose themselves as an armed gang
dominating the fate of that superpower and believing
that they are the owners of the world.
The letter likewise warns the U.S. that "if you
touch Venezuela or Cuba, the world will rise up."
