A Vietnamese woman carried a fetus
for 50 years without knowing it

A Vietnamese woman carried an eight-month fetus in her body for half a century without knowing it until she went to see a doctor on account of abdominal pain at the age of 75 years, the national media reported on January 17, according to EFE.

Dinh Thi Thu, mother of three, was shocked when the doctors from the Viet Nam- Cuba Friendship Hospital in Quang Binh province ( central) told her what was causing her pain.

"She told us that she had noticed a growth of her belly, but gradually forgot about it because she had no pain," Doctor Nguyen Ngoc Tai remarked.

The specialist pointed out that the fetus seemed to be the result of an ectopic pregnancy as it was outside the womb, and thus the woman was able to have other children.

Doctors are to operate to remove the fetus.
