Vincentian prime minister describes relations with Cuba as excellent

MEETINGS at the highest level are on today’s agenda of Ralph E. Gonsalves, prime minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, who arrived in the Cuban capital last night.

The visitor described his country’s relations with Cuba as excellent.

The dignitary was received on the forecourt of the metropolitan airport by Bruno Rodríguez, Cuban deputy minister of foreign affairs.

Speaking to the National News Agency, Gonsalves mentioned the excellent ties between his country and Cuba.

He also referred to the work of a joint cooperation commission in reviewing bilateral links and adopting practical agreements on political issues and in economic areas such as agriculture.

Today, the premier is also to visit the Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Center in the scientific complex west of the capital, in line with the official agenda.

He is likewise scheduled to meet with leaders of the Ministries of Public Health, Labor and Social Security, Tourism and Foreign Investment and Economic Cooperation, as well as an encounter with some 150 young people from his country studying in Cuba.

This is the fourth visit to Cuba by the St. Vincent and Grenadines government leader since 2001. (PL)
