Popular demonstrations in Panama in response to possible pardon for terrorists

DOZENS of Panamanian workers and university students marched through the capital city’s streets after learning of a possible pardon being granted to the terrorists being held in Panama.

At the end of the march, popular organizations delivered a letter addressed to President Mireya Moscoso on behalf of the prosecutors in the terrorists’ trial, according to a dispatch from Notimex.

The Panamanian president ordered her country’s ambassador in Havana to return to Panama and demanded that Carlos Zamora, Cuba’s ambassador, leave Panama. The Cuban government has reiterated that if the anti-Cuban terrorists are pardoned, diplomatic relations between the two states will be automatically broken off for an indefinite period.
