The National Revolutionary Militias were created on October 30, 1960, in response to the peoples´ need to prepare militarily defend the Revolution.55th anniversary of the National Revolutionary Militias
On October 23, the 55th anniversary of the National Revolutionary Militias (MTT) – officially October 26 - was celebrated in a cultural-political act in the José Martí Technical Military Institute, which has been decorated with An­tonio Maceo and Carlos J. Finlay Orders. During the ceremony Lieutenant Ernesto Mar­cos López, squad leader of the MTT 120 Battalion, commented on the organizations historic roots with the formation of the Malagones and later its development and decisive role in the battle of Playa Girón, serving the country wherever it has needed them.

The Decorated Hero of the Republic of Cuba, Fernando González Llort, was awarded the Pinar del Rio Coat of Arms, the highest honor conferred by this province on individuals who have excelled in different areas.

More than 25,400 neighborhood accountability meetings of People’s Power delegates with their electors have taken place, as of October 21 - 95.4% of those scheduled to date, according to Miriam Brito Sarroca, secretary of the National Assembly. She added that all municipalities in every province are organizing these fourth and final meetings, mandated for representatives elected to the XV People’s Power term, which began in November of 2012.
